I've run MidgardMOO for over four twelve (as of late 2007) years now. Midgard started as 'elseMOO', with Norstadt as ArchWizard. A friend of mine, GrendelFish, was a wizard there, and brought me over to be one as well, 5 days after the MOO first opened.

   It quickly became apparent who would be doing most of the wizardly work. Norstadt had created a few rooms, SarahBeth was doing a little building, and Wizard_Guest never logged in. Shortly thereafter, at the same time we were deciding a new name and a theme, elseMOO lost its host. We chose the name Midgard (over the other option, Malebolge), and a theme based on Lucifer's Hammer. I managed to talk my dad out of another computer, and talked my ISP out of a connection, and I set it up as a server. I then took over as ArchWizard.

   The theme is fairly simple. MidgardMOO is set in a valley 30 miles south of a city in the pacific northwest. Probably Portland or Seattle. Approximately one year ago, a massive comet struck the earth in several pieces. Civilization has effectively collapsed.A few places have been able to reorganize and survive. The Valley is one such place.

   I've put a lot of work in over the past three years to make the place successful.I've written many useful networking systems in MOOCode, including fully functional HTTP, SMTP, POP, and Finger servers, as well as a DNS client.
